Francisco contributed to the Smart Data Research UK panel “Let’s do good things with data” at the Royal Statistical Society International Conference 2025, held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), The Exchange, Edinburgh, Scotland, on 2 September 2025.
This panel contribution focused on doing socially impactful work with data, highlighting opportunities, challenges, and practical pathways for using data for public good.
The session discussed how data-driven research can support socially meaningful outcomes when paired with strong methodological standards, thoughtful governance, and a clear focus on public value. It also reflected on the role of collaborative initiatives such as Smart Data Research UK in creating pathways for responsible and effective data use.
